I am a microbiome researcher with a passion for science communication. In 2015, I started the blog Naturopathic Diaries to expose serious issues within the growing field of naturopathy. Naturopathic Diaries was recognized with an Ockham Award for Best Blog by Skeptic Magazine in 2016. I am still the only whistle-blower of naturopathic medicine.
My writing on alternative medicine can be found at Forbes, Science 2.0, KevinMD and Science-Based Medicine.
Currently, I am a PhD candidate in a joint research position at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology (Plön, Germany) and the Institute for Experimental Medicine (Kiel, Germany). My research focuses on the dynamic interplay between host genetics and skin microbiota in the context of chronic inflammation.
Contact me for interviews, speaking engagements, and consulting about alternative medicine or my research.
